It was founded in 1899 by Carl Miele and Reinhard Zinkann and has always been a family-owned, family-run company. Since the beginning, the Miele motto has been "Immer Besser" or "Forever Better" and this philosophy is still reflected in the legendary quality and longevity of the products.

Miele Microwaves
When you buy an appliance from Miele you would not do so expecting lots of bells and whistles for your money and with the microwaves in their range this is certainly so. What you do get it a brilliant build quality and an appliance that will last for years. When buying for the long term value, it is best not to climb on the bandwagon of gadgets and new fads because they may not stand the test of time.
Miele microwaves come is a price range between £500 and £1000. There are more costly models in the range, but they are combination ovens, which have far more features. They are a great space saver and of course have a whole range of features because they can literally cook with combined power, reducing food preparation time a lot. Most of the microwaves come with a grill, which is a really useful feature as the thing that makes most microwaved food less palatable is that it can be rather pale and flabby; the grill changes all that by giving a crisp top which is just like something cooked conventionally.
Most Miele microwaves are designed to be built in and will blend with other appliances from the manufacturer giving a seamless look to a modern kitchen. The cheapest in the range is free standing and is a very reasonable size at 26 litres capacity. For a bigger oven space than that, you have to move up to the combination models.
Grilling
The grill element is at the top of the interior and it is possible to use it for crisping if you leave the food at the turntable level or for grilling conventionally by using the rack with the longer legs, bringing the food up nearer the element. The grilling option makes the microwave oven far more versatile as it can be used for finishing off food to give it a more attractive appearance as well as being used alone if required.Adjustable Power
Many microwaves on the market have just one setting of whatever wattage they are made to deliver and while that is acceptable for most foods – you may have noticed different timings on ready made meals for example – for some more delicate items it is nice to be able to adjust the output. Miele microwaves go right down to 70 watts output, which is ideal for gentle defrosting and if you can't wait to get at the frozen solid ice cream, then a quick zap at that setting will help you get the spoon in for that first vital mouthful after a hard day.
